Orkestar čine Svetlana Spajić (glas), Tijana Stanković (glas/violina), Isabelle Duthoit (glas/klarinet), Marina Džukljev (klavir), Lav Kovač (bubnjevi/udaraljke), Franz Hautzinger (truba), Ervin Malina (kontrabas) i Bogdan Ranković (saksofon/tradicionalni duvački instrumenti/klarinet).
Iz teksta Svetlane Spajić o projektu izdvajamo sledeće:
Over the past few years, Goethe Institute’s project Metamorphic Songs has built a network of artists and researchers from different countries. Through workshops, presentations, lectures and concerts they have been exploring and presenting different instances of songs’ migration through cultures; the history of their travel, the changes in their features and function, but also their personal stories, secret connections or confronted ideologies behind them. One of the outcomes of the project was the Goethe Institute’s Collection of Metamorphic Songs with diverse examples from across the world.
As part of the project of Metamorphic Songs in Serbia, a group of international and local musicians formed the Metamorphic Orchestra in an attempt to add local examples to this extraordinary Collection and to give these songs a new „metamorphic opportunity” by performing them on stage. Metamorphic Orchestra is open for the songs’ newest „will” and cases of metamorphosis in the whirl of today’s turbulent events and histories.
Our title is a combination of two titles – in German it would be „Quittenschnaps” („schnaps” simply suits „rakia” better than „brandy”). It comprises a well-known Serbian folk song Dunje ranke (Fresh quinces) and a song-dance from Greece called Dournarakia which is a Greek echo of the Serbian refrain. In the prefecture of Rethymno, this dance was present since the late 19th century. One of the most famous recordings of Dournarakia was made by the Cretan singer and player Kostas Mountakis in the 1960s. Another version, more similar in rhythm and melody to the Serbian Dunje ranke, was recorded by Sotiris Stasinopulos in the United States in 1927.
